ZINES
Art for Healing
Created by our Art Therapist Shalom Parker with incarcerated survivors of police violence in mind, this zine is also meant to be a resource for anyone healing from trauma. It offers info on what art therapy is, tips to get started, and practices you can try yourself.
Politicized Grief
As an extension of our Politicized Grief Healing series, this zine highlights some of CTJC’s communal healing practices and collective wisdom. Created 2021. Written & Curated by Annabeth Roeschley, Designed & Illustrated by Peregrine Bermas.
Wellness on the Inside
Designed for incarcerated survivors, this guidebook outlines tips for taking care of yourself. With a focus on adaptable practices for physical, mental, and emotional wellness, we hope users will find support in whatever elements are useful to them.
Illustrated Guide to Coping with Police Violence (zine + video)
An encounter with the police can make us freeze up or “leave” our bodies in the moment. Repeated over time, experiences of aggression or harm at the hands of police can seem to pile up and keep us from feeling and acting like ourselves. This guide exists to help you stay connected to yourself, your streets and your support system so you can communicate what you need in these situations.

If you run into people who question why we need to #defundCPD instead of making new reforms, show them these incredibly disturbing and powerful graphics about Chicago's Fraternal Order of Police. The first series exposes complaints against FOP leadership and the second reveals the many ways the FOP continues to promote an agenda of harm and impunity on taxpayer dollars.
